You asked

I would like to make a request pertaining to the 2016 Investigatory Powers Act.

Do you have any data on how many arrests and convictions were made and for which crimes under the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, which came into force 29 November 2016?

We said

Thank you for your enquiry. Our crime statistics generally relate to victims rather than offenders and we do not hold information on arrests or convictions. Unfortunately, we are unable to be of anymore assistance.

The Ministry of Justice may have some relevant information; their latest statistics were published in May 2017 and can be found at the link below.

Although this published data does not contain a breakdown of arrests or convictions as a result of crimes which come under the Investigatory Powers Act 2016, it may be possible to find out more information about the data by contacting the Ministry of Justice directly. They can be reached at statistics.enquiries@justice.gsi.gov.uk.

For future reference, if you would like any further information, you can email CrimeStatistics@ons.gov.uk and we will endeavour to help.
