You asked

I am interested in crimes committed specifically against men in the UK, concerning the use of dating apps and websites. Specifically, the app 'Grindr' or any other LGBT themed services.

Most of the research available to me is pointed towards the US and not the UK; therefore I was wondering if you would be able to provide me with any data into crimes that fit this criteria over the last ten years, if possible - or as much as you can?

If not, I was wondering if you could best direct me to a source that possibly could?

Thank you for your enquiry.

We publish data relating to crime statistics from two main sources: The Crime Survey for England and Wales and crime recorded by the police. Both data sources cover England and Wales only. Therefore, unfortunately, we do not hold the information that you have requested.

Although we publish data on the number of offences reported to and recorded by the police in England and Wales, including dating scams recorded by Action Fraud on Appendix table A5, we do not hold any information that would allow us to separately identify offences committed on, or via the use of, dating apps and websites.

You could contact the Home Office directly, as they may be able to provide more detailed information. They can be contacted at crimeandpolicestats@homeoffice.gov.uk.
