You asked

As you can appreciate there is a lot of misinformation on the internet nowadays.

One thing that has cropped up a few times and one I'm hoping is just a rumour, is in regards to the government apparently blocking The Office of National Statistics from issuing data on how many people have died after they've been given a COVID-19 vaccination.

Can you confirm whether or not this is true? If it's true can you please tell me where this order came from? If it's not true then could you please release the figures of everyone who has had a vaccination which has resulted in some kind of negative reaction up to and including death.

Thank you for your enquiry.

We are an independent producer of official statistics. We can confirm that we have not been blocked from reporting on the number of deaths and adverse effects of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Deaths that have been directly attributed to the vaccine, due to adverse reaction can be found in table 12 of our Monthly Mortality Analysis. There are currently 0 deaths registered with the aligning ICD codes for this. However, should this change, they will be updated in this table.

We are currently developing our analytical plans with an intention to publish detailed vaccination statistics soon. Once we have finalised these plans a publication date will be announced on our Release Calendar.

If you would like to discuss your query further, please contact health.data@ons.gov.uk.

Adverse effects of the vaccine

We are unable to provide figures for those who may have been harmed or suffered illness from a COVID-19 vaccination as this is not recorded on the death certificate. NHS Digital may be better placed to answer this request. They can be contacted via email at enquiries@nhsdigital.nhs.uk.
