We said

Thank you for your request.

We are responsible for the production of mortality statistics for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk

Our Pre-existing conditions of people who died due to coronavirus (COVID-19), England and Wales dataset provides pre-existing conditions of people who died due to COVID-19, broken down by country, broad age group, and place of death occurrence, who were usual residents of England and Wales. It also provides data for instances of no pre-existing conditions. The last data available for this publication is for Quarter 2 2023, when this release was discontinued.

If this dataset does not meet your needs, user requests and bespoke tabulations of mortality data for England and Wales are available to order, subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs.
