Please supply the following information for cancer statistics and deaths from cancer 2020 to 2021:
- Death from cancer as primary diagnosis
- Death with Cancer
- Death from Covid as a primary and material cause and diagnosis
- Death with Covid and Cancer
- Death with Covid and underlying cause
Please split the above categories by median age, by decade and, if possible, the time line from original diagnosis.

Our mortality data is derived from information collected at the point of death registration. We do not hold information on timeframes from diagnosis as information relating to the diagnosis of cancer or COVID-19 is not provided on the death certificate.
Cancer Incidence statistics are now produced by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, part of Department of Health and Social Care. They can be contact using the attached form: Contact the Department of Health and Social Care | contactus.dh.gov.uk (dhsc.gov.uk).
We can however provide information relating to the number of deaths by ICD-10 code.
Deaths involving malignant neoplasms
Our NOMIS webservice will provide deaths involving malignant neoplasm by 5-year age groups. You can either select Leading causes LC02 for cancer or by individual form of neoplasm (C00-C97).

Deaths involving and Due to COVID-19
We provide deaths involving and deaths due to COVID-19 in our Monthly mortality analysis, England and Wales on " Table 12: Number of deaths with ICD-10 codes related to COVID-19 mentioned on the death certificate, by ICD-10 code, deaths registered in March 2020 to November 2021, England and Wales".
Deaths involving COVID-19 and Cancer as a pre-existing condition
In our Monthly Mortality analysis we provide Pre-existing conditions of people who died due to COVID-19, England and Wales which includes some neoplasms.
Any further analysis outside of the information available above would need to be created as bespoke analysis. Therefore, we would advise consulting with the Health Data customer service desk, who will be able to discuss your request further. As mentioned previously, such services would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure controls, resources and agreement of costs.
