Thank you for your request.
Deaths related to COVID-19 can be found as part of the Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales (provisional) dataset.
This publication is updated every Tuesday and will provide the following information:
Weekly deaths – All causes
Weekly deaths – COVID-19
Weekly deaths – COVID-19 by region
Weekly deaths – COVID-19 by sex and age bands
Weekly deaths – COVID-19 by place of death (Hospital, private home, Hospice, Care Home, other communal establishment) for England, Wales and England and Wales combined.
Deaths registrations and occurrences by local authority and health board is also updated every Tuesday and will provide the following information:
- Provisional counts of the number of deaths registered in England and Wales, including deaths involving the coronavirus (COVID-19), by local authority, health board and place of death (hospital, private home, hospice, Care Home and other communal establishment).
Ethnicity is not recorded as part of the death registration process, so this is not published as part of our Weekly deaths datasets. However, we have linked deaths involving COVID-19 to the 2011 Census to identify the deceased's ethnic group and published an analysis of Coronavirus (COVID-19) related deaths by ethnic group, England and Wales: 2 March 2020 to 10 April 2020 on 7 May 2020.
