You asked

Please can you provide me with the following information:

  1. How many children aged between 0 to 13 have died solely due to influenza with it being the only condition on the death certificate in the past 10 years, in the UK?

  2. What is the total number of UK spontaneous suspected Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) reports received by the MHRA in association with the live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) broken down by year and those with a fatal outcome?

We are responsible for the production of mortality statistics for England and Wales driven by information collected from the death certificate at registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.  

Between 2015 and 2024 in England and Wales, there were 7 deaths registered for children under the age of 14 years, where influenza was the only condition mentioned on the death certificate.
