The scanning of the Business Register and Employment Survey (BRES) takes place in Newport, in the Integrated Data Capture Area of Business Data Operations Division within the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

This area consists of fifteen members of staff. These work on the data capture of approximately 80 business surveys conducted by ONS. Of these about 15% of effort is dedicated to the working on the scanning and capturing of data relating to the BRES survey.

This equates to approximately £40,000 per year.

The Senior Responsible Officer for BRES is a Mr Mike Prestwood.
