If possible, please could you give me details of the average monthly rent for English regions classified by NUTS specification, from 2009 to 2019 (or longer if available)?

The bi-annual Private Rental Market Summary Statistics for England (PRMS) publishes average monthly rental price for England, including a breakdown of rental price by English region, which can be mapped to NUTS1 regions. PRMS has been published by the Office for National Statistics since 2019. Between 2011 (start of measurement) and 2019, PRMS was published by the Valuation Office Agency.

Under the methodology used, a timeseries is not published using PRMS data and users are advised not to infer trends in the rental market over time by comparing prices year-on-year. We publish the Index of Private Housing Rental Prices for the UK, which contains timeseries of private rental percentage change over 12 months by English region between 2006 and 2020.
