You asked
I am looking for data from 1998-2015 for annual turnover by industry for all (SIC) industries and the total in the economy.
Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could provide me with data over the period 1998-2015 for the gross operating surplus of all industries.
Any deflators that you would recommend using would also be highly valuable.

Thank you for your request.
Regarding the first part of your request, please find two Excel documents which include standard extract tables back to 1998 for the Annual Business Survey (ABS). These tables provide estimates for turnover, purchases and resulting approximate gross value added (aGVA) by detailed Standard Industrial Classification (SIC). Please note there is a series break between 2007 and 2008 due to the change in the Standard Industrial Classification at that time.
In relation to the second part of your request Gross Operating Surplus (GOS) data back to 1998 can be found in the following link β please refer to Table 2 βInt Con 1997β. The data can be found in row 114;
For the third part of your request, industry specific outputs do utilise price indices to remove the effects of inflation, so as an example, the Retail Sales Index (RSI) uses a combination of Consumer Price Indices (CPIs) as deflators. Other industries such as Construction and Production may use a range of Producer Price Indices (PPIs). However, both ABS and GOS data are only published in current prices β it is not standard practice to apply a deflator to these datasets so we would not be able to recommend one to use in this instance. Please find attached the GDP(O) data sources catalogue which details all deflators used within the production of GDP(O);
