I am currently looking for some data about the UK as a whole using the 2011 census data (if you have anything more recent that covers all the topics below for the same year that would be even better)
By Postal area (i.e AB12, SS13 W1 etc) if this is not possible then by local authority:
Population
Population density (persons per square mile)
Sex
Ethnicity
Main Language
Place of birth
- UK
- EU Country
- Outside EU Country
Tenure – People
- private rented, social rented ( council, other etc), owned, shared ownership
Occupation
Age Structure
Employment figures
- Part time, full time, self employed, unemployed etc

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) is responsible for the census in England and Wales. The census is a devolved responsibility in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
However, ONS has published some 2011 Census UK data as follows:
For statistics on population, population density by hectares and people per hectare, sex, ethnicity, country of birth, tenure, and age see 2011 Census, Key Statistics and Quick Statistics for local authorities in the United Kingdom - Part 1

Please note that all UK tables are at local authority geographical level.
Main language is not available as a UK table because Scotland and Northern Ireland asked the question differently but data for England and Wales is available in table QS204EW. Here is a link to the table:
Statistics for postal areas in England and Wales can be obtained from Nomis. The postcode hierarchy is as follows: Postcode Area - PO, Postcode District - PO15 and Postcode Sector - PO15 5
under data downloads select 'query data' now select census of population from the list
select 2011 Census - Key or Quick Statistics and choose a table
on the following page select 'Geography' and go to the Postcode section
select the drop down next to postcode districts and select 'all' the postcode districts will bolden
now go to the far left and select the next option below geography and tick all the fields required
download on the far left under results
Repeat this process for the tables you wish to look at within the Key and Quick Statistics for England and Wales.
For information I have attached an ONS Geography look-up link for UK postcode districts to enable you to see which postcode is within which local authority.
