In April 2013 the quantity of goods bought (volume) in the retail sector was estimated to have increased by 0.5% when compared with April 2012. Over the same period the amount spent (value) in the retail sector increased by 1.3%. The price of goods sold in the retail sector (as measured by the implied price deflator) increased by 0.6%.
Public Sector Net Borrowing (PSNB ex) in April 2013 was £6.3 billion, £25.4 billion lower than in April 2012. For 2012/13, PSNB ex was £85.1 billion, £35.8 billion lower than in 2011/12.
In quarter 1 of 2013 the net sector aggregate of selected SPPI's 12 month inflation rose 1.1%, same as quarter 4 of 2012.
CPI annual inflation – the Government’s target measure – was 2.4 per cent in April, down from 2.8 per cent in March.
CPIH annual inflation - the new measure of consumer price inflation including owner occupiers' housing costs, was 2.2 per cent in April, down from 2.6 per cent in March.
In the year to April 2013 the output price index for home sales of manufactured products rose 1.1%. In the same period the total input price index fell by 0.1%.
