The Compendium of UK Statistics pulls together, in one place, independent statistics that can be compared across the four nations of the UK. These can be used to help inform important debates, such as in the context of the Scottish Referendum.
The Index of Services increased by 3.3% in May 2014 compared with May 2013. All of the four main components of the services industries increased in the most recent month compared with the same month a year ago.
In June 2014, the quantity bought in the retail industry increased by 3.6% compared with June 2013 and by 0.1% compared with May 2014. The quantity bought also increased in Q2 2014 compared with Q2 2013, by 4.5%.
