09. Nature of Crime tables, 2012/13 - Children aged 10-15 Theft (Excel sheet 126Kb)
The figures presented here are from the 2012/13 Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW). Since January 2009 the CSEW has asked children aged 10 to 15 resident in households in England and Wales about their experience of crime in the previous 12 months. Refinements to the questions and definitions used in the questionnaire mean that direct comparisons between years and between adult and child data cannot be made. The Children aged 10 to 15 Nature of Crime tables include data on where and when incidents happened, information about offenders, the victim's perception of the incident, whether the incident was reported, whether injuries were sustained or weapons were used in violent incidents and what items were stolen in theft related incidents.

The figures presented here are from the 2011/12 Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW). The offender must have entered the property but need not have carried out his/her intention, and attempted burglary – incidents in which there is clear evidence that the offender tried to enter the dwelling as a trespasser but failed. Burglary does not necessarily entail the theft (or attempted theft) of property or involve forced entry (for example, it may be through an open window or involve the use of false pretences).
