Source: Long-Term International Migration, Office for National Statistics
Notes:
  1. Figures for 2017 and 2018 are provisional.
  2. The shading around the central estimates represents the associated uncertainty of the estimates due to the number of people surveyed, based on 30%, 60% and 95% confidence intervals. The highlighted central estimate is the most likely value, whilst the values towards the upper and lower limit are possible but less likely. Other sources of uncertainty, for example due to limitations of the survey methodology, are not represented.
  3. The dashed lines are illustrative revised trends, adjusted for the unusual pattern in IPS student immigration figures.
  4. Confidence intervals have not been calculated for the net migration estimates prior to 2012 due to the revisions made to data for 2001 to 2011 following the 2011 Census.
