Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding mean annual pay broken down by gender and then by local authority, towns, cities, ethnicity and industry.
The Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE), carried out in April each year, is the most comprehensive source of earnings information in the United Kingdom. ASHE is based on a 1% sample of employee jobs taken from HM Revenue and Customs' Pay As You Earn (PAYE) records.
Data for mean annual earnings by gender and local authority, towns and cities (by the employee's place of work) can be found in the ASHE Table 7.7a.
These data are also available by the employee's place of residence, in the ASHE Table 8.7a.
Data for mean annual earnings by gender and Standard Industrial Classification (SIC 2007), for 1 to 4 digit industry, are available here.
Unfortunately, we do not hold information on annual earnings broken down by ethnicity.
