Table S034 Sex and former occupation by age

Details

Table for all local authorities in the National Report (printed and on CD) is incorrect. The total of Unemployed - Process, plant and machine operatives does not equal sum of males and females in that category.

Comments

Correct totals can be found using the correct male/female totals shown in the table. A corrected version of the table is included in the National Report part 2 released on 13 February 2004.

Table S035 Sex and occupation by employment status and hours worked

Details

The second row of this table is labelled 'Managers and proprietors in agriculture and services'. This should read 'Managers and senior officials'.

Table S067 Age of Household Reference Person (HRP) and dependent children by approximated social grade

Details

Table population reads 'All Households with Reference Person aged 16-74'. This should read 'All households'.

Details

Counts of 'O' level passes, CSE (any grades), GCSE (any grades), School Certificate double count those who ticked both '1+' and '5+' boxes on the Census form. Counts of 'A' level, 'AS' level, Higher School Certificate double count those who ticked both '1+' and '2+' boxes on the Census form.

Comments

This error has resulted in the published table overstating the number of people with 'O' level passes and similar qualifications by approximately 5%, and the number of people with 'A' level passes and similar qualifications by 8% for England and Wales as a whole. This table has been corrected in the National Report part 2 and in the second release of Standard Tables for Wards. A corrected version for wards and higher administrative geographies is also available in SuperTABLE and Excel format on request from Census Customer Services.

Table KS24 Migration

Details

The table provided in the printed report and on the SuperTABLE CD incorrectly counts people moving between England and Wales under 'Moved out of the area to elsewhere in the UK' as well as under 'Moved within the area'. Similarly, in the table for Wales as a whole, people moving between local authorities within Wales are shown as 'Moved to area from elsewhere in UK' and 'Moved out of area to elsewhere in UK' rather than 'Moved within the area'. The error for Wales also occurs in the corresponding columns for ethnic groups other than White. No other columns or geographies are affected by this error.

Table S008 Resident type and sex and age by migration

Details

Counts for 'Outflow: Moved out of the area but within associated area' are missing for counties in both SuperTABLE and CSV CDs accompanying the National Report part 2. These missing counts affect the calculation of 'Net migration' for counties.

Table UV93 Same sex couples

Details

Counts of people living in same sex couples are shown against the wrong local authority on the National Report part 2 CSV CD. The errors were also present in the version of UV93 on Neighbourhood Statistics until 26 February 2004, but have now been replaced by the correct counts. The count for England and Wales as a whole and the counts on the SuperTABLE CD accompanying the report. version of the CD are not affected. The table is not released below local authority level.

Table AF04 UK and Foreign Armed Forces by residence and workplace
