The article provides a link to a spreadsheet containing summary totals of deaths by occupation for the period 9 March to 28 December 2020 – https://www.ons.gov.uk/file?uri=/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/causesofdeath/datasets/coronaviruscovid19relateddeathsbyoccupationenglandandwales/current/reftablesfinal.xlsx

I would be grateful if you could provide a link to the underlying timeseries data.

The underlying timeseries data is presumably weekly but if not whatever time period has been used in the analysis.

Thank you for your request.

We are responsible for producing mortality statistics for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. For Scotland and Northern Ireland statistics please contact National Records Scotland and NISRA respectively.

In the response to the pandemic ONS have produced Coronavirus (COVID-19) related deaths by occupation, England and Wales: deaths registered between 9 March and 28 December 2020, this publication provides an insight into deaths involving COVID-19 by different occupational groups.

Unfortunately, we have not produced this data down into smaller time series. In order to fulfil this request, we would need to create bespoke analysis. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.

We may be able to produce this for you as a custom output when the finalised mortality dataset for 2020 is published in summer 2021 (expected between August and September). Such services would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure controls, resources and agreement of costs. If you would like to request this bespoke dataset, please contact health.data@ons.gov.uk to discuss your enquiry further. Please note, there may be a charge for this work which would be subject to our charging policy.
