Thank you for your request for the most recent value and a historical series for the Retail Prices Index.

The Retail Prices Index is published each month as part of our Consumer price inflation publication. The latest release is for February 2019, with the March release due for publication on Wednesday 17th April 2019.

The Retail Price Index (RPI) is published on the ONS website under the unique time series identifier CHAW. It is possible to view and download the latest RPI All Items Index (where January 1987 = 100) by month, quarter or year since 1987. In addition to the RPI index, we also publish the RPI All Items percentage change over 12 months (time series identifier CZBH) and the RPI All Items percentage change over 1 month (time series identifier CZEQ). The RPI All Items percentage change over 12 months is commonly used to describe changes in the RPI - for example, in February 2019, consumer prices as recorded by RPI had risen by 2.5% over the last year.

Please note that the Retail Prices Index does not meet the required standards for designation as National Statistics. A full report can be found at on the UK Statistics Authority website.
