I would like to make a Freedom of Information request to find out how women were informed of the increase in State Pension age under the various pension reforms.

Were they informed by individual personal letter in 1995 of the Government's plans to equalise the SPA? If so, can you let me have a copy of the text of the standard letter. If not, how did you ensure that this information reached those concerned?

Were they informed by individual personal letter in 2007 that the SPA was to rise to 66 years? If so, can you let me have a copy of the text of the standard letter. If not, how did you ensure that this information reached those concerned?

Were they informed by individual personal letter in 2011 that there would be an accelerated rise in their SPA? If so, can you let me have a copy of the text of the standard letter. If not, how did you ensure that this information reached those concerned?

Were women informed by individual personal letter in 2012 that the number of qualifying years of National Insurance for a full State Pension had increased from 30 years to 35 years? If so, can you let me have a copy of the text of the standard letter. If not, how did you ensure that this information reached those concerned?

The information requested is not held by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). It is more appropriate to contact the Department for Work and Pensions for questions relating to the State Pension Age and to how people were informed of changes to it.

Previously, the ONS produced statistical information on state pensions in a publication called Pension Trends, although it did not include the information requested in this Freedom of Information Request

The Pension Trends state pension information is no longer produced by ONS as the information is covered extensively by the Department for Work and Pensions' own outputs.
