You asked

Please could you provide me with the following:

Median hourly salary for each percentile (or every fifth percentile, if each is not possible), broken down into full-time and part-time employees as well as combined figures. Please could you provide the most recent available data.

To assist my request: in the 'Low and high pay in the UK: 2019' report, it is stated as a note to Figure 5 that "the 95th percentile full-time employee job was paid £39.15 per hour, 4.7 times the lowest paid at £8.29". I believe the data I'm requesting will likely be the data that was used to produce these figures.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request.

The Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE) is the most comprehensive source of earnings information in the United Kingdom, which is based on a 1% sample of employee jobs taken from HM Revenue and Customs' Pay As You Earn (PAYE) records.

We do not hold data for every percentile or every fifth percentile for hourly earnings including overtime, as is used in the Low and high pay in the UK: 2019 bulletin. The values for the 5th and 95th percentiles (£8.29 and £39.15 respectively) were calculated specifically for use in the bulletin and we do not hold an underlying dataset containing this information.

If you would like to obtain these data, they can be requested from the ASHE ad-hoc data request service, which is chargeable. If you have any questions about making a request, please do not hesitate to contact us at earnings@ons.gov.uk.

Published ASHE data are available for hourly earnings excluding overtime for each percentile, for all employees and full-time and part-time employees.
