I would like to know the number of suicides by gunshots in 2017 up until the latest year available, including the occupation of the decedents.

You can find the latest data as part of our Suicides in the UK dataset, table 20 of the bulletin contains information on method of suicide. Our Suicides by Occupation details suicides by sex, country and occupation for 2011 and 2018.
Also available is a bespoke request, available under the ONS Open data policy: Suicides by Firearms in England and Wales 1977-2016.
Further data for specific occupations and variable breakdowns are available to commission as bespoke analyses. Such services would fall outside of the Freedom of Information regime and would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreement of costs where appropriate.
