Thank you for your request.

We produce a range of different statistics in relation to your request however our focus is largely collated by divisional level and so in most cases we are not always able to provide data at the scale you have asked for. There have also been some minor issues in collecting data that dates back to 2007-2008, however this will be explained in regard to each subject.

Turnover

We publish turnover in £ million for some industries which feed into sector E (namely 37 sewerage and 38-39 Waste and remediation), collected from our Monthly Business Survey here:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/economy/economicoutputandproductivity/output/datasets/monthlybusinesssurveymbsturnoverinproductionindustries

Our recent data ranges from 2013-2018 and has been included. For Industry 36- Potable Water- this is collected as volume and so is not measured in turnover. Division 38-39 are also combined to produce one figure rather than being measured separately.

Number of Enterprises

Unfortunately, we do not collect any of these data on a semi-annual or quarterly basis therefore only the annual data has been provided within the spreadsheet in the associated downloads. Due to the change in classification which took place in 2009 these data are only available from 2009 onwards, this change in classification means that the data collected before 2009 are not comparable.

Production

Production Data are also seasonally adjusted with 2016 = 100. These data are available both quarterly and monthly. Access to the publication can be found using the following link:

Annual Business Survey

The following categories are all measured within our Annual Business Survey: Production, Value added at factor costs, Value added at basic prices, Gross operating surplus, Total purchases of goods and services, Gross investment and Remuneration of employees. Therefore for these topics they are again only available yearly. All figures have been listed in £ millions. The latest Annual Business Survey data can be found here:

Total employment

Total employees, number of employees and number of female employees is all collected monthly and is split into 3 divisions: 36, 37 and 38-9. The data ranges from December 1992 to revised figures for March 2018 and provisional figures for June 2018. These data have then been further split into male and female employees, these data are shown in thousands.

Employment data was taken from the publication which can be found using the following link:

Wages and salaries of employees

This table contains non-seasonally adjusted Average Weekly Earnings at industry level at a monthly scale. The wage and salaries data is found in Electricity, Gas and Water Supply this includes both Section D and Section E. The dates range from January 2000 to August revised and September provisionally.
