Thank you for your enquiry.

We do not hold the information you have requested.

We publish statistics taken from the Crime Survey for England and Wales and crimes recorded by the police. The offence category '8N Assault with injury' incorporates incidents of female genital mutilation. However, it also includes other offences as well. We have a count of all offences recorded under code 8N for England and Wales as a whole, but cannot extract only the incidents of female genital mutilation as we do not hold this breakdown of information.

You may be interested in the experimental statistics in the attached link, published by NHS Digital, which relates specifically to FGM in England. These figures cover only those cases of FGM that come to the attention of healthcare providers.

We do not deal with statistics relating to convictions or prosecutions. The Ministry of Justice may be able to help with these parts of your query and can be contacted at statistics.enquiries@justice.gsi.gov.uk

We do not hold statistics relating to doctors convicted of FGM and the number of doctors who lost their licence to practise. The General Medical Council may be able to help. The following link will take you to their website.
