Summary of request
Deaths with an underlying cause of suicide or undetermined intent for male and female carers and home carers aged 20 to 64 years. Table 1 provides numbers of deaths registered in England for each year between 2001 and 2015. Table 2 provides an age-specific break down for each year.
Please note, for deaths registered between 2001 and 2010, occupation was defined using SOC 2000 code '6115,' "Care assistants and home carers;" for deaths registered between 2011 and 2015, occupation was defined using SOC 2010 code '6145', "Care workers and home carers."
Differences in numbers of suicide for given occupations over time may merely represent changes in the underlying population as opposed to any change in risk.
