Thank you for your enquiry.

Please see the following table, showing the frequency of the requested baby names for the last three years for which data are available:

Please note: We have not provided numbers of names with a count of 3 or less in total within England and Wales have been redacted in order to protect the confidentiality of individuals. This is consistent with the disclosure control methodology used for births. Section 39 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 (SRSA) renders it an offence to disclose information held by the Statistics Board for statistical purposes that would identify an individual or a body corporate. As we are prohibited by law from publishing statistics in which individual businesses can be identified, we find that Section 44 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) applies. Section 44 is an absolute exemption and no consideration of the public interest test needs to be applied.

We are responsible for publishing statistics on baby names in England and Wales. Baby name statistics are compiled from first names recorded when live births are registered in England and Wales as part of civil registration, a legal requirement. The most recent year for which data are available is 2018.

Baby name statistics for Northern Ireland are available from Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency: NIRSA: Baby Names

Baby name statistics for Scotland are available from Nation Records Scotland via the following link: NRS: Baby First Names

For detailed information on baby names statistics for 2018 please see our boys' baby names and  girls' baby names datasets. They provide statistics on rank and count of the top baby names, changes in rank since the previous year and breakdown by country, region and month of birth. We also publish Baby names in England and Wales bulletin with commentary regarding the above datasets.
