You asked:

Is it possible to get a breakdown of population by region by first/given name and age from the last Census?

I would like to have the information on UK country, Region, first/given name, age, number.

We said:

You have made a Freedom of Information Request for access to personal information from the 2011 Census. We are unable to provide information from the 2011 Census as the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 makes it an offence to disclose personal census information while it remains in our custody. This includes names.

All censuses from 1921 onwards are held by us and their release is therefore currently prohibited. Provisions in the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (section 44) state that information is exempt if its disclosure is prohibited by, or under, any enactment.

Current Government policy is that we should retain all census returns from the 1921 Census onwards, for 100 years. There are no plans to review either the Government’s policy or the period of closure.

Although we are unable to provide information from the census you may be interested to know that we do publish a limited amount of information on the first names of babies born in England and Wales. The top 10 boys and girls names, by region (of mother's usual residence), for the years 1996 - 2015 may be accessed from the attached links:
