Please provide the following statistics:
- DVLA statistics on volume of theft spanning over last 10 years.
- How many total loss vehicles there are in the UK per year.
- How many vehicles do not get updated on MIAFTR.

Thank you for your enquiry relating to the number of vehicle thefts over the last ten years.
We draw on two main sources to measure crime levels and trends: the Crime Survey for England and Wales (CSEW) and police recorded crime. The CSEW is a household survey that asks people resident in households about their experiences of victimisation of crime. Police recorded crime are crimes that are recorded by the police.
The number of vehicle thefts estimated by the CSEW over the last ten years can be found in Appendix Table A1 (line 51) of our latest published 'Crime in England and Wales, year ending March 2019 release:
The numbers of vehicle thefts recorded by the police in England and Wales over the last ten years can be found in Appendix Table A4 (line 159) of the same release and can be accessed via the link above.
Unfortunately, we do not hold any data on the number of total loss vehicles there are in the UK or how many vehicles do not get updated on the Motor Insurance Anti Fraud and Theft Register.
