Please provide an estimated number of West African citizens (by country) who migrated into the UK from the year 2000 to 2017.

We said

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding the estimated number of West African citizens (by country) who migrated into the UK from the year 2000 to 2017.

This request relates to flows data, based on the International Passenger Survey (IPS). Flows data estimates the number of those coming in or out of the UK within the given time period. We have supplied long term migration flows as this estimates those people who have entered the UK for 12 months or more.

The link supplied includes data from 2000 to 2017. Within each dataset please see table 4.02B, C and D for the individual countries you are interested in, as we don’t collect data for ‘West African’ citizens. Please note that if a country is not shown in a dataset for a particular year, this means no contacts were made with migrants from this country during the survey. The IPS is a sample survey, where no contact has occurred no estimate is possible. This does not imply that the actual number is zero, although it is probably low.
