We said

Thank you for your request relating to knife crime in London.

Crime statistics published by us generally relate to victims rather than offenders of crime. We do not hold information on ethnicity of knife crime offenders or on stop and searches.

Data on offenders are primarily held by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), who may be better placed to answer your query in relation to the ethnicity of offenders. You can contact them at: statistics.enquiries@justice.gsi.gov.uk.

Data on stop and searches are collected and published by the Home Office within their annual Police powers and procedures England and Wales statistics releases. Alongside this release, they also publish open data tables relating to stop and search. If you have any questions regarding this data source, you can contact the Home Office. They can be reached at: CrimeandPoliceStats@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk.

In relation to your third question, we do not hold knife crime data by London borough. You may find it useful to refer to the data dashboard on Metropolitan Police website. You can go to the ‘EoY Other Crime Types Dashboard’ tab and filter for the Borough Operational Command Unit to see the amount of knife committed in each borough. If you have any questions about this data source you should contact the Metropolitan Police directly.

If you would like any crime related information in the future, please feel free to email CrimeStatistics@ons.gov.uk directly and we will endeavour to help.
