What's in the bulletin?
- In the week ending 20 September 2024 (Week 38), 9,421 deaths were registered in England and Wales (including non-residents), a decrease from 9,831 in the previous week (Week 37).
- The number of deaths registered in Week 38 was 13.7% lower than the expected number (1,500 fewer deaths).
- In the week ending 20 September 2024, 12.2% of registered deaths involved influenza or pneumonia (1,150 deaths), while 1.5% involved coronavirus (COVID-19) (138 deaths).

What's in the bulletin?
- Overall retail footfall in the week to 29 September 2024 decreased by 1%, compared with the previous week, and by 4%, compared with the equivalent week of 2023 (MRI OnLocation). Section 3: Consumer behaviour.
