Thank you for your enquiry requesting mortality rates in England and Wales from 2001 to 2020 by specified age bands.

We hold the following analysis Deaths Registered in England and Wales for 2006 to 2020. Table 3 will provide age standardised mortality rates and age specific mortality rates (per 100,000) by 5-year age groups and sex. For data from 2001 to 2006, this can be found in the DH2 series in the National Archives.

Unfortunately, we do not hold mortality rates by 100,000 population broken down by your specified age groups. In order to fulfil this request, we would need to create a bespoke analysis or table. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held. If the above publication is not suitable, we may be able to create a bespoke output. This service falls outside of the Freedom of Information regime and is subject to legal frameworks, disclosure controls, resource and agreements of cost. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact health.data@ons.gov.uk.
