Dataset Claimant count and vacancies time series

A minor processing error has been identified, affecting the following series: AGLX, AGMA, AGNA, AGNG, BCJB, BCJE, DPAC, DPAD, DPAH, DPAI, JLGC, JLGI, JLGO, JLGU, JLHA, JLHL, JLHR, and JLHX.

This error affected data from 2013 to 2023, and the latest estimates were unaffected by this error. These estimates have now been corrected.

This dataset contains series for the Claimant Count (which measures the number of people claiming unemployment-related benefits) and vacancies.

Important notes and usage information

  • Since June 2015 the Claimant Count has been designated as experimental statistics and has included out of work Universal Credit claimants as well as Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants.
  • Some of the Claimant Count series in this dataset do not contain any data later than April 2013. It is not currently possible to produce estimates of Claimant Count inflows and outflows or Claimant Count by duration for time periods later than April 2013 because the required Universal Credit data is not yet available.
