CPI annual inflation stands at 5.0 per cent in October 2011, down from 5.2 per cent in September.
The largest downward pressures came from falls in the cost of food (due to significant and widespread discounting by supermarkets and good harvests for certain produce), air fares and petrol. Partially offsetting these were upward pressures from increases in the cost of clothing, electricity and gas. The CPI stands at 121.0 in October 2011.
