The Monthly Review of External Trade Statistics is intended to supplement the information contained in the monthly National Statistics Statistical Bulletin on UK trade. This September 2012 issue of the monthly review is consistent with the figures shown in the UK Trade Statistical Bulletin of 6 December 2012.

This short article examines the distribution of private household wealth in Great Britain, focussing specifically on the characteristics of those households in the top 10 per cent of the wealth distribution.

This bulletin presents provisional estimated figures of excess winter mortality (EWM) for the winter period 2011/12, and final figures for the winter period 2010/11, in England and Wales. Historical trends from 1950/51 onwards are also presented for comparison purposes.

The Migration Statistics Quarterly Report (MSQR) is a summary of the quarterly releases of official international migration data. This edition covers those quarterly datasets released on 29 November. It also links to other migration products released on that date.

It focuses on underemployment by age, full-time/part-time status, self employed/employee status, wage level and occupation. It also looks at underemployment across areas of the UK.

This release contains estimates of the key components of GDP from the output, income and expenditure approaches. Gross Domestic Product measures the chained volume index movements of the UK. The services sector accounts for more than three quarters of total gross domestic product. Figures are adjusted for seasonal variations unless otherwise stated and the reference year is 2009=100.

The Services Producer Price Index (SPPI) are primarily a suite of individual price indices that provide information on price change for a limited range of service industries. Each SPPI captures quarterly changes in the price received for services provided by GB businesses to other UK businesses and Government. These individual price indices are also aggregated together to create a 'service industry' SPPI with limited coverage.

Presents information about the lower end of the earnings distribution and estimates for the number of jobs paid below the national minimum wage. The estimates are based on data from the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings (ASHE).

The PSF Statistical Bulletin, is published jointly by ONS and HM Treasury on a monthly basis, and provides the latest available measures for key public sector financial statistics such as Public Sector Current Budget (PSCB), Net Borrowing (PSNB), Net Debt (PSND) and PSND as a percentage of GDP. These key indicators are provided on two bases. One set includes the temporary effects of financial interventions made in response to the financial crisis that began in 2007, such as the establishment of public ownership/control of several major banking groups. An alternative set of indicators, the so-called ‘ex-measures’, excludes the temporary effects of financial interventions.

Measuring National Well-being: Life in the UK 2012 provides a unique overview of well-being in the UK today. The report is the first snapshot of life in the UK to be delivered by the Measuring National Well-being programme and will be updated and published annually. Well-being is discussed in terms of the economy, people and the environment. Information such as the unemployment rate or number of crimes against the person are presented alongside data on people’s thoughts and feelings, for example, satisfaction with our jobs or leisure time and fear of crime. Together, a richer picture on ‘how society is doing’ is provided

This release provides estimates of businesses' expenditure and employment relating to R&D performed in the UK in 2011, irrespective of the residence of the ultimate owner/user of the R&D produced. Estimates in cash terms present the values of R&D expenditures collected by the Business Enterprise Research and Development (BERD) survey, while real terms estimates have been adjusted for changes in the general price level between years using the GDP deflator. This allows changes in the volume of R&D expenditures to be examined over time.
