Details about the mortality assumptions used in the 2010-based national population projections

Access to Finance survey questionaire sent to small and medium-sized businesses.

Mid 2010 population estimates are available at national level by single year of age and sex and subnationally (local authority/health area) by five year age group and sex. These include additional selected age groups and broad components of population change. The Population Estimates reflect the local authority administrative boundaries that were in place on 30 June of the reference year of the tables.

Population Trends - No. 141, Autumn 2010 This article compares official population projections with Bayesian time series forecasts for England and Wales. The Bayesian approach allows the integration of uncertainty in the data, models and model parameters in a coherent and consistent manner.

Population Trends - No. 141, Autumn 2010 This article reviews existing procedures employed by various countries in the evaluation of, and/or adjustment, either of census data, or of population estimates based upon census data. The work was carried out to ensure all potential demographic techniques are considered by the ONS for the post census evaluation process of the 2011 Census.

This article presents a description of what generational accounts are and how they might provide indications of the sustainability of fiscal policy. Generational accounts also give indications of intergenerational equity, because they can be used to examine whether future generations may have to pay a higher tax rate than current generations if current polices on spending by government which benefits individuals directly, social benefits including health and education spending, are maintained. Such calculations require forecasts across a range of demographic and economic variables. The article provides the methodological background for work which NIESR are doing for ONS to provide a set of generational accounts.

The article presents the preliminary results from an ongoing project reconciling the Average Earnings Index (AEI) with the experimental series Average Weekly Earnings (AWE). The article sets out the background to the work, describes the differences between the two series and then presents the preliminary results.

Figures on adoption orders apply to adoptions by relatives and step-parents as well as adoptions from care. Foreign adoptions are also included if they meet the legislative requirements and where an application has been made for registration.
