Estimates of the usually resident population as at 30 June of the reference year, revised in light of the 2011 Census. Estimates reflect the administrative boundaries in place on 30 June 2011.

This product is part of the set of Small Area Population Estimates (SAPE). It includes mid-year population estimates for Middle Layer Super Output Areas (SOAs) in England and Wales by quinary age and sex. SOAs are geographies which were introduced in 2004 to improve the reporting of small area statistics. They are built from groups of 2011 Census Output Areas and are of consistent size and fixed boundaries. SOA population estimates are consistent with local authority, regional and national population estimates.

The Population Estimates reflect the local authority administrative boundaries that were in place on 30 June of the reference year of the tables. These estimates have been superceded by the Primary Care Organisation Population Estimates, Mid-2011 Final (Census Based) that were released on the 11th April 2013.
