The Public Sector Classification Guide provides a list of bodies classified in the General Government sector, and Public Financial and Public Non-Financial Corporations, within the National Accounts.

This document expresses the public sector finances in a matrix form consistent with the latest statistical bulletin. It is possible to generate a matrix table for any quarter, financial year or calendar year back to 1946 by globally editing the formula in the matrix workbook.

European System of Accounts table 27 (also known as QFAGG - quarterly financial accounts of general government) is a complete set of quarterly financial accounts of the general government sector and its sub-sectors compiled according to ESA95. This table deals with both financial transactions and financial balance sheets.

Tables reporting on UK Government Deficit and Debt Levels: Table 1: Reporting of government deficit/surplus and debt levels and provision of associated data. Tables 2A to 2D: Data which explain the transition between the national definitions of government balance and the deficit/surplus (EDP B.9) of each government sub-sector. Tables 3A to 3E: Data which explain the contributions of the government deficit/surplus and the other relevant factors to the variation in the government debt level, and the consolidation of debt (general government and general government subsectors). Table 4: Other data.

ESA Table 11 reports on annual UK Government Expenditure by Function. Three tables are produced: Central Government only, Local Government only, and General Government as a whole i.e. consolidated for central and local government. The data are broken down by function using the Classification Of Functions Of Government (COFOG). This classification system was developed by the OECD and adopted as standard in National Accounts.

ESA Table 11 reports on annual UK Government Expenditure by Function. Three tables are produced: Central Government only, Local Government only, and General Government as a whole i.e. consolidated for central and local government. European System of Accounts table 25 is a complete set of quarterly non-financial accounts of the general government sector compiled according to ESA95. Table 2501 provides a breakdown of general government expenditure (both current and capital) and Table 2502 provides a smiliar breakdown of general government revenue. Table 2502 also shows the general government net borrowing (B.9) which is the difference between total revenue and total expenditure. The quarterly data in these tables are consistent with the annual general government data in ESA table 2.
