The purpose of this article is to give the estimated effects on the Consumer Prices Index and Retail Prices Index resulting from duty and taxation changes announced in the Budget.

Contains price indices, percentage changes and weights for the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), Retail Prices Index (RPI) and the components that make up these indices. Internationally, the CPI is known as the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP)

The data published will cover January 1996 to September 2012. These data are updated once a quarter with around a 2 month lag with the latest CPI Publication. For example, the data will next be updated when the February CPI is published on the 19 March 2013, at which point the detailed data published will be extended to December 2012.

This release provides detailed CPI data: the individual item indices that underpin the CPI. Please note that the data that are published will be at a level which will mean that no individual retailer or service provider will be able to be identified. Please note, these files are large and therefore cannot be opened using older versions of Excel
