23-May-2013This product shows estimates of long-term international migration for the UK from the year ending Dec 02 to the year ending Sep 12. Data for 2012 is provisional. The tables and charts show the time series for immigration, emigration and net migration (the difference between immigration and emigration). Table 1 and Table 2 contain estimates of Long-Term International Migration (LTIM) by citizenship and by main reason for migration. LTIM is the most comprehensive measure of long-term international migration and is primarily based on the International Passenger Survey (IPS), with some adjustments. As detailed analyses on the characteristics of migrants are not possible from LTIM, Table 3 contains a cross tabulation of citizenship by main reason for migration based on IPS data only

29-Nov-2012The 2 series tables show the time series for immigration, emigration, and net migration for the UK and for England and Wales. These tables contain univariate data and are based on LTIM (Long-Term International Migration) data which is the most comprehensive measure of long-term international migration and is primarily based on the International Passenger Survey (IPS) with some adjustments made for people who change their intentions to stay (migrant and visitor switchers), asylum seekers and Irish flows. Table 2.01a shows estimates by migrants' citizenship. Broad citizenship groupings are published. Estimates are available for calendar years 1991-2011.
