    STIM tables contain detailed information on the characteristics of short-term international migrants. Table STIM.01 is based on information collected by the International Passenger Survey (IPS) at the end of migrants' visits and contains information on migrant flows to and from England and Wales. Estimates are provided for migrations of one to twelve months, three to twelve months and migrations meeting the United Nations definition of short-term migration. This table shows estimates broken down by migrants' main reason for migration. Broad reason groupings are published. Estimates are available for mid years (July to June) 2004 to 2011.

Countries are ranked by flow estimates and by average stock estimates. The top ten countries in each category are provided for migrations of one to twelve months and three to twelve months. The top five countries in each category are provided for migrations meeting the United Nations definition of short-term migration. Estimates are available for mid years (July to June) 2004 to 2011.

Table STIM.06 is based on information collected by the International Passenger Survey (IPS) at the end of a migrant's visit to England and Wales plus information from several administrative data sources. Estimates are provided for migrations meeting the United Nations definition of short-term migration and are for inflows only. This table shows the estimates of the overall flows into England and Wales by migrants' main reason for migration (employment or study) distributed, using the administrative data, down to regional and local authority level. Estimates are available for mid years (July to June) 2008 to 2011.
