This release provides estimates of R&D performed by the following four sectors of the economy, as defined in the Frascati manual, Business Enterprise (BERD), Higher Education (HERD), Government (GovERD) which includes Research Councils, and Private Non-Profit (PNP) organisations. All these sectors’ (Business, Government, Higher Education and Private Non-Profit) R&D data are known collectively as GERD, which represents the gross domestic expenditure on R&D in the UK.

There are two tables of UK Electoral Statistics reflecting the number of electors registered to vote in the UK on 16 October 2012 (England (except London) and Wales) or 1 December 2012 (London, Scotland and Northern Ireland).
