  • The provisional number of deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending 25/05/2012 was 9,602. This represents a decrease of 311 deaths registered in comparison with the previous week..

  • The average number of deaths for the corresponding week over the previous five years was 9,275.

Weekly death figures provide provisional counts of the number of deaths registered in England and Wales in the latest eight weeks for which data are available.
