  • The provisional number of deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending 15/06/2012 was 10,170. This represents an increase of 3,387 deaths registered in comparison with the previous week.
  • The average number of deaths for the corresponding week over the previous five years was 8,878.
  • Moveable public holidays, when register offices are closed, affect the number of registrations made in the published weeks and in the corresponding weeks in previous years.
  • The increase in the deaths registered in the week ending 15/06/2012 is likely to be due to the closure of register offices over the Jubilee bank holiday in the previous week.
