In February 2013, year-on-year seasonally adjusted estimates of the quantity (or volume) bought in the retail sector rose by 2.6%.
Over the same period the quantity bought in the non-food sector was estimated to have increased by 5.4% (seasonally adjusted). This provides the most upward pressure to the increase in the total quantity bought in the retail sector.
In February 2013, year-on-year seasonally adjusted estimates of the amount spent (or value) in the retail sector increased by 2.6%.
In February 2013, the amount spent online accounted for 9.7% of all retail spending excluding automotive fuel.
