The most reliable estimates of national research and development spending that draws together information on research and development spending in the public and private sectors: business enterprises, government, higher education, private non-profit.
Misreporting from a government non-departmental public body has lead to a discontinuity between 2006 and 2007 for the series with data identifiers DMRJ and GLDL in table one of this dataset. These identifiers relate to government performed R&D funded by Research Councils and Abroad respectively. ONS is waiting further information which may result in future revisions for periods prior to 2007.
