On an output per hour basis, UK labour productivity fell by 0.2 per cent in the third quarter of 2012. Market sector productivity fell by 0.6 per cent on this basis, to its lowest level since 2005
Output per hour in the services sector fell by 0.1 per cent in the third quarter. Output per hour fell by 0.9 per cent in manufacturing and by 1.2 per cent in the broader production sector
Whole economy unit labour costs fell by 0.1 per cent in the third quarter and were 3.3 per cent higher than a year earlier. Manufacturing unit wage costs increased by 0.1 per cent in the third quarter and were 6.2 per cent higher than a year earlier
ONS has published proposals for new measures of unit labour costs below the whole economy, including replacing the currently published series for manufacturing unit wage costs. A user group meeting to discuss these proposals will be held in February 2013
