The 2010-based national population projections were published in two parts. The first part was published on 26 October 2011 and included the principal projection and nine standard variant projections and a second release included 11 further standard ‘combination’ and special case scenario variants
This release contains a summary table of the 2010-based national population projections for seven additional variant projections for the UK. These are supplementary to the principal and variant 2010-based national population projections that were published in October and November 2011.
The projections are not forecasts and do not attempt to predict the impact that future government policies, changing economic circumstances or other factors might have on demographic behaviour. They provide an indication of the impact that changes in demographic patterns might have on the size and age structure of the population in the future.
