Abstract

This document provides an index of data tables. The data tables contain historic data data going back as far as comparable data exists for each time series. The spreadsheets can be accessed from hyperlinks within the index.

Summary tables

A01: Labour market statistics: printer-friendly summary spreadsheet. (2.45 Mb ZIP) This is a multi-worksheet spreadsheet which contains the tables which appeared in the old style Labour Market Statistical Bulletin as published before the introduction of the current ONS website on 27 August 2011.

A02: Labour force survey summary (1.13 Mb Excel sheet) (employment, unemployment and inactivity). This table shows the headline estimates of employment, unemployment and economic inactivity.

A03: Labour Force Survey summary (employment, unemployment and inactivity) for men aged from 16 to 64 and women aged from 16 to 59. (694.5 Kb Excel sheet) The employment and inactivity rates shown in this table were the headline employment and inactivity rates until August 2010, when ONS replaced these headlines rates with rates for those aged from 16 to 64 for both men and women. These new headline rates for those aged from 16 to 64 are shown in Table A02.

A04: Labour market summary (employment, unemployment and inactivity) for people below state pension age. (254 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November. Estimates in this table follow the incemental increase in the female state pension age each quarter. Between 2010 and 2020 the state pension age for women will increase gradually from 60 to 65. These estimates are not the headline labour force survey estimates. The headline estimates are shown at Table A02.

A05: Labour market status (employment, unemployment and inactivity) by age group. (2.88 Mb Excel sheet)  This table shows estimates of employment, unemployment and economic inactivity by sex and age group.

A06: Educational status and labour market status (employment, unemployment and inactivity) of people aged from 16 to 24. (1.99 Mb Excel sheet) This table shows estimates for people in full-time education and people not in full-time education. Not in full-time education includes people in part-time education and/or some form of training. Estimates of young people not in employment, education or training ("NEET") cannot therefore be derived from this table.

A07: Regional labour market summary. (90.5 Kb Excel sheet)  This table shows estimates of employment, unemployment and economic inactivity by region.

A08: Labour market status (employment, unemployment and inactivity) of disabled people. (244 Kb Excel sheet)  This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

A09: Labour market status (employment, unemployment and inactivity) by ethnic group. (728.5 Kb Excel sheet)  This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

A10: International comparisons of employment and unemployment rates. (229 Kb Excel sheet) The tables contains data for all EU member states plus the United States, Canada and Japan.

A11: Labour Force Survey Sampling Variability (95% confidence intervals). (49.5 Kb Excel sheet)  This table show sampling variability estimates for key Labour Force Survey indicators for the UK and for the regions.

Employment tables

EMP01: Full-time, part-time and temporary workers. (1.17 Mb Excel sheet)  This table shows seasonally adjusted and unadjusted estimates of employment and is updated every month.

EMP02: Public and private sector employment. (50.5 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated in March, June, September and December.

EMP03: Public sector employment by industry. (46 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated in March, June, September and December.

EMP04: Public sector employment including and excluding financial corporations. (35 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated in March, June, September and December.

EMP05: Employment levels by country of birth and nationality. (159 Kb Excel sheet) The spreadsheet also includes Table EMP06 (employment rates by country of birth and nationality). These estimates are updated in February, May, August and November.

EMP06: Employment rates by country of birth and nationality. (159 Kb Excel sheet) The spreadsheet also includes Table EMP05 (Employment levels by country of birth and nationality). These estimates are updated in February, May, August and November.

EMP07: Temporay employees: all and part-time. (143.5 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

EMP08: All in employment by occupation. (100 Kb Excel sheet) This table is published four times a year in February, May, August and November. A more detailed employment by occupation spreadshhet, published once a year, is available at Table EMP16 (288.5 Kb Excel sheet) .

EMP09: Employees and self-employed by occupation. (124 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

EMP10: Part-time and temporary workers by occupation. (107 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

EMP11: Employment by socio-economic classification. (39.5 Kb Excel sheet)  This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

EMP12: Part-time and temporary workers by socio-economic classification. (45.5 Kb Excel sheet)  This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

EMP13: Employment by industry (Labour Force Survey). (109 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November. NOTE: Workforce jobs, mainly sourced from employer surveys, provides a more reliable industrial breakdown than the Labour Force Survey. Workforce jobs by industry estimates are available at Table JOBS02 (117 Kb Excel sheet) .

EMP14: Employees and self-employed by industry (Labour Force Survey). (162.5 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November. NOTE: Workforce jobs, mainly sourced from employer surveys, provides a more reliable industrial breakdown than the Labour Force Survey. Workforce jobs by industry estimates are available at Tables JOBS02 (117 Kb Excel sheet) and JOBS03 (542.5 Kb Excel sheet) .

EMP15: Job related training received by employees. (121 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

EMP16: Employment by Occupation. (288.5 Kb Excel sheet) This spreadsheet is published once a year in August and provides a detailed snapshot of employment by occupation, broken down by gender, for April-June 2011.

EMP17: Employment rate revisions triangle. (340 Kb Excel sheet)  This spreadsheet shows a revisions triangle for the headline seasonally adjusted employment rate for those aged from 16 to 64.

Hours of work tables

HOUR01: Actual weekly hours worked. (436 Kb Excel sheet)  This table shows estimates of actual hours worked including paid and unpaid overtime.

HOUR02: Usual weekly hours worked. (1.43 Mb Excel sheet)  This table shows estimates of usual weekly hours worked in main jobs including paid and unpaid overtime.

HOUR03: Average hours worked by industry. (159 Kb Excel sheet) This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

UNEM02: Unemployment by previous occupation (47 Kb Excel sheet) . This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

UNEM03: Unemployment by previous industrial sector (230.5 Kb Excel sheet) . This table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

UNEM04: Unemployment rate revisions triangle (1.26 Mb Excel sheet) . This table show a revisions triangle for the headline unemployment rate for those aged 16 and over.

INAC01: Economic inactivity by reason (2.25 Mb Excel sheet) . This table shows the headline estimates of inactivity by reason for inactivity and by sex. The table is updated every month.

Redundancies

RED01: Redundancies levels and rates (176.5 Kb Excel sheet) . This table shows estimates of whole economy redundancies by sex. The table is update every month.

RED02: Redundancies by industry, age, sex and re-employment rates (not seasonally adjusted). (2.39 Mb Excel sheet) This table shows more detailed estimates of redundancies and is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

Claimant count & Benefits tables

Claimant count

CLA01: Claimant count summary (280.5 Kb Excel sheet) . The table provides estimates of the number of people claiming jobseeker's allowance (JSA).

CLA02: Claimant count by age and duration (462.5 Kb Excel sheet) . The table provides estimates of the number of people claiming jobseeker's allowance (JSA) by age, sex and duration of claim.

CLA03: Lone parent claimants of jobseeker's allowance (50 Kb Excel sheet) . The table provides experimental estimates of the number of lone parents claiming jobseeker's allowance (JSA).

CLA04: Claimant count revisions triangle (1.26 Mb Excel sheet) . This table provides a revisions triangle for the headline claimant count level.

Benefits

BEN01: Key out of work benefits (51.5 Kb Excel sheet) . Key out of work benefits includes those benefits paid to people subject to labour market activation policies by the Department for Work and Pensions. The table is updated four times a year in February, May, August and November.

JOBS01: Workforce jobs summary. (46 Kb Excel sheet) This table shows estimates of employee jobs, self-employment jobs, HM Forces jobs and government supported trainee jobs. Workforce jobs tables are usually only updated in March, June, September and December.

JOBS05: Workforce jobs revisions triangle (294 Kb Excel sheet) . This spreadsheet provides a revisions triangle for the headline seasonally adjusted estimate of total workforce jobs. Workforce jobs tables are usually only updated in March, June, September and December.

Vacancies tables

VACS01: Vacancies and unemployment (36.5 Kb Excel sheet) . This table provides estimates of the number of unemployed people per vacancy. The table is updated every month.

VACS02: Vacancies by industry (173.5 Kb Excel sheet) . This table shows vacancies by industry according to Standard Industrial Classification 2007. The table is updated every month.

VACS03: Vacancies by size of business (57 Kb Excel sheet) . This table shows estimates of vacancies by size of business. The table is updated every month.
