This dataset contains series for the Claimant Count (which measures the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance) and Vacancies. The dataset is overwritten every month and it therefore always contains the latest published data. Claimant Count and vacancies estimates are also available in spreadsheet format at:
CLA01: Claimant Count summary. (299.5 Kb Excel sheet) The table provides estimates of the number of people claiming benefits principally for the reason of being unemployed; since October 1996 this has been the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA).
CLA02: Claimant Count by age and duration. (484.5 Kb Excel sheet) The table provides estimates of the number of people claiming jobseeker's allowance (JSA) by age, sex and duration of claim.
VACS01: Vacancies and unemployment. (44 Kb Excel sheet) This table provides estimates of the number of unemployed people per vacancy.
VACS02: Vacancies by industry. (122 Kb Excel sheet) This table shows vacancies by industry according to Standard Industrial Classification 2007.
VACS03: Vacancies by size of business. (57 Kb Excel sheet) This table shows estimates of vacancies by size of business.
The Time Series dataset facility is primarily designed for users who wish to customise their own datasets. For example, users can use the Time Series Dataset facility to create a single spreadsheet including claimant count and vacancies series, rather than extracting the required data from the separate spreadsheets published on the website.
